The Story of Prince Hlini
The Icelandic fairy tale, The Story of
Prince Hlini, is a national favorite in its home country. While being
closely related to tales from other countries, like the Norwegian East
of the Sun and West of the Moon, and the ancient Greek myth of Perseus
and the Grey women, it has a distinctly Icelandic quality.
The story tells of a prince who disappears in a forest, and the brave
girl who sets off to find him and rescue him from the clutches of two
evil ogresses. If she is to succeed on her quest, she will have to use
all her wits.
This modern version of the story is retold and beautifully illustrated
by Ragnheišur Gestsdóttir.
In English.
Hardcover with 21 pages.
