Reykjavik Iceland

Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Iceland with 111,000 inhabitants. It is the focus of business, transport, trade and communication as well as being Iceland´s cultural and educational centre. With its theatres, concerts, art galleries coffee houses, restaurants and shopping centres Reykjavík has something to delight every visitor.

One way to meet the people of Reykjavík is to visit one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools and baths. Going to the pool is a way of life in Iceland and each pool has its regulars; morning, noon and night. A great number of people take advantage of the plentiful water. Attendance is in the region of 1.75 million annually, a telling turnout for a country with a total population of 282,000.

Reykjavík´s Farmyard Animal Zoo and Family Park, which are interconnected, are also popular among Icelanders as a great place for parents and children alike. The Zoo has also become a tourist attraction for people who are interested in native animals.
